Craig David at the Australian Open
There are few better Melburnian summer traditions than heading to the Australian Open in January – but the Australian Open Live Stage takes the experience up a notch by adding music to the mix. Sure, you might find yourself torn between the courts and the stage, but between the two, you’re guaranteed non-stop entertainment from some of the world’s best athletes and finest musicians.
Across a massive 15 days in January, the AO Live Stage operates out of Birrarung Marr, a short walk from Rod Laver Arena and the surrounding outdoor courts. On Friday January 25th, the musical headliner is none other than UK R’n’B star Craig David.
Generation-Y readers will remember David best for his feature on the 1999 Artful Dodger track Re-Rewind, his 2000 debut album Born to Do It, a worldwide smash hit, and its 2002 follow-up, Slicker Than Your Average; including singles Fill Me In, Walking Away and 7 Days. David’s sixth album, 2016’s Following My Intuition, contained some of his best work in years and included a Kaytranada collab, winning him new fans.
David also recently collaborated with fellow British musicians Bastille, who will also be taking the AO Live Stage in 2019, on worldwide chart topper I Know You.
The crooner will be supported on the Live Stage by party starter Yo! Mafia.
