Another winner to catch at this year’s grand slam.

Each year the stars on the court at the Australian Open draw crowds. And in recent years, so has the musical talent, which now goes hand-in-hand with the grand slam.

Over a cracking 15 days in January, the AO Live Stage at Birrarung Marr, adjacent to Rod Laver Arena, will host a mix of old favourites, reliable chart-toppers and break-out hits. Coming from the Falls Festival circuit, Flight Facilities will take the stage on Sunday January 20 as the headline act.

The duo, comprising Sydneysiders Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell, first landed on the Australian music scene in 2010 with hit Crave You ft Giselle. That was prior to releasing their Down to Earth album, which includes the Debussy-inspired song Clair De Lune, recorded with US singer and producer Christine Hoberg.

After performing with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2015, and collaborating with Broods, Reggie Watts and Saro on 2017 single Stranded, last year the band released All Your Love with Dustin Tebbutt, and Need You with NÏKA. Their repertoire of electronic beats laced with honeyed vocals will make for a not-to-be-missed show in-between on-court battles.

Slum Sociable and Groove City will be supporting on the day.

Starts at 6pm.
